There are still a ton of games left to be played in both the NFL and college football seasons, but that hasn’t slowed down the mock drafts that have been coming out with some frequency.
The second edition of Jeff Risdon’s 2024 mock draft over at the Draft Wire was released on Friday, and with this being the first draft that the Miami Dolphins have had a first-round pick in some time, there’s some genuine intrigue in their projected selections.
Risdon has the Dolphins taking Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins at No. 27 overall and Oregon defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus at No. 59 overall.
Wiggins, to this point, has played 25 games for the Tigers in three seasons, recording 46 tackles, 20 passes defensed, two interceptions (which were both returned for touchdowns), one sack and one forced fumble.
Dorlus is in his fifth season with Oregon. Appearing in 48 for the Ducks, he’s recorded 104 tackles (27 for a loss), 12 sacks, 11 tipped passes and one fumble recovery.
Miami used their top pick on a cornerback last year (Cam Smith), and they’re pretty deep at the position, but with their current cap situation, it wouldn’t be surprising to see one of them moved ahead of 2024.
They also have two of their three interior defensive linemen (Christian Wilkins and Raekwon Davis) set to hit free agency after the season, so it would make sense to see them target the position in the upcoming draft.
