The Miami Dolphins are continuing to meet with draft prospects before the 2022 NFL draft, and, with general manager Chris Grier not adding much to their defense during free agency, that side of the ball could be the focus of the three-day event.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins met with Wisconsin defensive lineman Matt Henningsen on Tuesday.
Henningsen, who once walked on, impressed at Wisconsin’s pro day, recording a 37.5-inch vertical jump while standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 289 pounds.
In his four-year career as a Badger, the defensive lineman totaled 92 tackles and 8.5 sacks. While Henningsen has shown some solid agility off the snap, he has a number of aspects of his game that he needs to work on if he wants to be a consistent contributor at the NFL level.
At this point in the process, Henningsen has been looked at as a potential late-round pick, so he could be in play with one of the Dolphins’ two seventh-rounders.
