A dolphin has died after being found in shallow water by a passerby at Oban Harbour.
The British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team were called to George Street to reports of an animal 'alive but barely moving' in the shallow end of the water.
Photos taken by the female passer-by show the mammal, which is believed to have been a common dolphin, floating lifelessly on the shore.
Sadly after BDMLR workers attended the site they confirmed that the dolphin was dead.
The animal was brought ashore to be checked over by the Scottish Marine Animals Stranding Scheme.
The exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
A spokesperson for British Divers Marine Life Rescue said: "We did receive a call yesterday regarding a dolphin in the harbour at Oban, on closer inspection it was found to be dead.
"It was a common dolphin, cause of death unknown."
