Dolmio pasta sauces are cleared from shelves amid allergy fears

Two popular pasta sauces have been recalled by their manufacturer because they contain an ingredient which could be a health risk to anyone with an allergy.

Dolmio carbonara pasta sauce pouch and Dolmio carbonara pasta sauce stir-in have been removbed from supermarket shelves because they contain soya, which is not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.

Manufacturer Mars Food UK has recalling both the products and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The company has also issued point-of-sale notices to its customers which will be placed in stores. These explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.

If you have bought the above products and have an allergy to soya, do not eat them. Either contact the Dolmio customer care line on 0800 952 1234 (UK) or 1890 812 315 (Northern Ireland) for a full refund or alternatively return to store for a full refund. |You do not need your receipt.

The sauces affected are:

  • Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce Pouch: Pack size: 150g, Best before dates: 28 February 2023 and 1 March 2023.
  • Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce Stir-in: Pack size: 150g, Best before dates: 26 April 2023 and 27 April 2023.

The Dolmio recall comes in the same week that Morrisons recalled several breaded chicken products as they may contain small pieces of glass.

The following items are unsafe to eat due to the possible presence of glass:

  • Breaded Chicken Goujons: Pack size: 270g and 650g, Use by dates: 20 June 2022 and 21 June 2022.
  • Breaded Chicken Nuggets: Pack size: 260g, Use by date: 19 June 2022.
  • The Morrisons Breaded Chicken Platter: Pack size: 600g, Use by date: 19 June 2022
  • The Morrisons Breaded Chicken Steaks: Pack size: 500g, Use by date: 18 June 2022

No other products are affected by this issue, the supermarket chain said. Anyone who has bought any of the above products are being urged to not eat them and instead return them to the store for a full refund.
