Doja Cat has spoken: 'I think I like Overwatch more than Marvel Rivals' after just one match

Overwatch 2's new hero Juno in her spacesuit and holding her mediblaster gun on a dark background.

Ever since Overwatch's massive refresh in February, which added five new heroes in one batch and set the pace going forward, Blizzard's hero shooter has been in its renaissance era. Everyone's playing it: lapsed Overwatch fans, Marvel Rivals (ex-)enjoyers, and even Doja Cat—yes, that Doja Cat.

The musician took to Twitch yesterday to livestream her first time playing Overwatch. From what I can tell, her first move was obviously to head to the store and buy the new Sakura skin bundle and LE SSERAFIM Mercy because, y'know, they're incredible. With a fresh fit acquired, Doja Cat played (what I believe to be her first ever match) on Blizzard World as Juno, and just as the payload reached the finish line, she put the nail in the coffin for the Overwatch vs Marvel Rivals debate: "I thought this was going to be so stressful and not good. I tried Marvel Rivals, and I think I like this more." So yes, the answer really is just whichever one you prefer.

What's most interesting to me is that, while it was a low-stakes bot match, Blizzard's hero design really is top-notch. Doja Cat quickly got the hang of Juno's kit enough to do the job without having scoured the hero info page beforehand. I like Marvel Rivals, but reading through Gambit's or Deadpool's abilities is like reading an ancient manuscript. I'll always appreciate how much more focused Overwatch is at its core, as that's what makes it accessible while allowing so much room for high-skill plays.

Doja Cat went on to say: "I’m gonna play Overwatch and I love Overwatch. You know what else I love? I love Juno. I love playing Juno on Overwatch because she’s just that girl. She’s amazing. She’s fabulous." And with that, another Juno main was born. It's inevitable after hitting a full-lock Pulsar Torpedo, really.

The one and only Conor McLeod, Hazard voice actor and community favourite, took the opportunity to shoot his shot, asking Doja Cat if she'd like to play with him. I'd be down for that stream if it were to ever happen, that's for sure.

Doja's not the only big name playing Overwatch, either. NBA superstar Luka Dončić is actually a top-500 player in his spare time, playing a lot of Cassidy. To celebrate this, Blizzard even ran the Play Like Luka event back in Season 18, which handed out 77 (his number at the LA Lakers) loot boxes and an exclusive charm and spray. Who knows, maybe Doja's up next.
