They've been through so much together - but might have to separate to secure new homes.
Rosa and Rex have been returned to Oakwood Dog Rescue, in Hull, through no fault of their own - and have had to restart their search for owners.
The crossbreeds, who are around 10-years-old, suffered a lifetime of cruelty in Romania before being brought to the UK in May last year.
After arriving at the Hull shelter, the duo were quickly matched with a couple, and spent a year in their home before being returned.

A spokeswoman said: "Sadly Rosa and Rex have recently found themselves back at Oakwood due to a relationship breakdown and change in living circumstances with their previous family."
Although the pair would love to stay together, the rescue team fear they could end up spending years in kennels waiting for the right person to come along.
For this reason, they have decided to put them up for adoption separately to increase their chances of securing new homes.
"Rex could live by himself or with his pal Rosa. As he loves his home comforts, he doesn't really want to stay in kennels very long, despite how much he loves everyone here," the spokeswoman adds.
"He is confident enough to live without Rosa but if they did find a home together then that's great too!"
Rex has been described as a "real foodie" who loves human attention, while Rosa is an "absolute sweetheart" who can be a little shy when she first meets people.
The pair enjoy spending time outdoors and walk well on a lead.
Rex can share a house with children over aged 10, whereas for Rosa, children must be at least aged 14.
Oakwood Dog Rescue has been helping to rehome unwanted dogs since 2009, mainly working to rescue those living a life of misery in Romania.
A statement reads: "The rescue helps all dogs they can, of any breed, where they come from in the world or age including those with special needs or behaviour issues.
"The goal is to rehabilitate and re-home them to loving homes, where they can live out the rest of their years in a happy, loving environment.
"Great things can be achieved with the help of our many generous supporters working together towards a common goal, creating more happiness for every dog that ends up at Oakwood Dog Rescue."
