Dog stolen from outside McDonalds as owner buys him chicken nugget for being 'good boy'

A dog owner says he has been left 'worried sick' after his dog was stolen while he went inside a McDonald's to buy him chicken nuggets as a treat.

Seven year-old male Doberman cross Link, who has a rare genetic condition, disappeared from outside the fast food restaurant in Trongate, Glasgow City Centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

His owner Alasdair Crawford said he had turned his back while buying him nuggets as a reward for being a "good boy" when he noticed he was suddenly missing.

An eyewitness then informed him that he had seen a man allegedly untie the dog and run towards King Street, where he was last seen. A police investigation has since been launched.

Alasdair, who lives in the city centre, has now sent out an urgent appeal to help reunite him with his best friend.

He also praised officers for their work, saying they have "done more than they ever could have."

Speaking to Glasgow Live, Alasdair said: "He has been my rock for seven years. I've looked after him through sickness and in health.

"He has a rare genetic condition that requires a lot of medical care, and without question he has gotten the care he needed every single time.

"I’m worried sick he’s such a big personality and my life revolves around him."

Support has also come from fellow dog lovers on local Facebook page 'Lost Dogs in Glasgow', and his post calling for the return of his furry friend has now been shared over a thousand times.

Amid his worry Alasdair has been able to spare a few words to thank the public for their help, saying: "It's been so touching the amount of support and kindness from everyone."

Link is described as a seven year-old male Doberman cross with a black and tan coat. He was last seen at around 2am on Sunday and was accompanied by an unknown man heading towards King Street in Glasgow.

Anyone who may any information or a possible sighting of Link has been asked to contact 07441451835.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.30am on Sunday, 16 April, we received a report of the theft of a dog in the Trongate area of Glasgow. Enquiries are ongoing."
