'Doesn't do enough' - Gabby Agbonlahor shares blunt Naby Keita verdict and sends Liverpool contract message

Gabby Agbonlahor believes midfielder Naby Keita doesn't have a 'long-term future' at Liverpool.

The Guinea international joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018 but has failed to nail down a regular starting spot under Jurgen Klopp. His inconsistent form is largely the result of injury problems, which have hindered his Liverpool career.

Keita has racked up more than 30 appearances in just two of his four seasons with the club so far, but is yet to play a minute of football for Liverpool this term. He is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem and has been left out of the Champions League squad as a result, meaning he cannot be registered until January.

As he's now in the final year of his contract at Liverpool, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding his future and whether he'll depart at the end of the season. Agbonlahor has shared his thoughts on the midfielder's situation and says he's had his chance.

“I don’t think he’s got a long-term future at Liverpool," the pundit told Football Insider. “He doesn’t have long left on his contract, and he doesn’t do enough on the pitch, for me.

“He’s not going to take Liverpool to Premier League or Champions League glory. He has had his chance – but now they need to build that midfield and bring in better players."

Liverpool also remain without midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is another player in the final year of his deal with the club. Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones are also currently sidelined with injury problems of their own.
