Christians who attended faith-based Life Surge events say Tim Tebow's name helped earn their trust before some were allegedly pushed towards costly financial courses, with attendees describing pressure to open credit cards, tap home equity and even consider retirement savings.
The allegations emerged in a joint investigation by Pablo Torre Finds Out and Mother Jones into Life Surge, a for-profit events and education company that combines Christian messaging with financial and investment training. Tebow, one of its most prominent speakers, has not been accused of personally defrauding attendees, and the investigation does not establish that he knew about the alleged sales tactics.
