The widow of a rugby star who died from motor neurone disease is “incredibly grateful” to people who recently raised more than £2 million to find better treatments for the degenerative condition.

Kathy Weir, wife of George “Doddie” Weir, said the Doddie’s Triple Crown endurance cycling challenge in March raised £1.6 million alone, with a number of previous events bringing the total amount raised to more than £2 million.
