Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), is actively providing relief and medical assistance to individuals who have been displaced from their homes in Lebanon. The organization is distributing essential items such as mattresses and hygiene kits to shelters, in addition to offering psychological and mental health support to those in need.
Recently, Israel escalated its air campaign on Hezbollah, a Iran-backed militant group in Lebanon, resulting in the deadliest day of Israeli strikes in the country since the 2006 war. These strikes have targeted multiple areas in Lebanon, prompting residents to evacuate their homes following warnings via text messages and calls from unknown numbers urging immediate evacuation.
As a result of the airstrikes, there has been a significant exodus of people from the affected regions, with Lebanon's representative to the United Nations General Assembly describing it as a mass movement of individuals trying to flee the targeted areas. Reports from a Lebanese non-governmental agency indicate that over 100,000 people have been displaced due to the ongoing conflict.
MSF highlighted the urgent need for assistance, emphasizing that many of the displaced individuals had to evacuate rapidly, often without access to basic necessities. The organization's efforts are crucial in providing support and aid to those affected by the conflict in Lebanon, ensuring that essential supplies and medical assistance reach those who need it the most.
