Experts have warned of a new virus that has emerged in India as at least 82 children under five have so far been diagnosed with the disease. Tomato Flu has been named after nasty red blisters which appear on the skin as the virus spreads.
Other symptoms include a high fever, rashes and intense joint pain, reports The Mirror. Doctors are trying to contain the disease, detected in the Kollam district of Kerala, India, and nearby Anchal, Aryankavu, and Neduvathur.
The infection is reported to be “very contagious”, with those coming into contact with confirmed cases being placed into isolation for around a week. Children are being prevented from sharing items such as toys, clothes and food to prevent the situation from worsening.
