Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa was spotted filming the BBC science fiction series in Cardiff, less than 24 hours after he performed at the Coronation Concert. The 30-year-old actor and co-star Millie Gibson, who plays companion Ruby Sunday, were back wearing their sixties-themed attire as they shot scenes for the show’s 14th series, which airs next year.
Pictures have teased that the Doctor and Ruby will visit Abbey Road, the London street made famous by The Beatles’ 1969 album of the same name. Ncuti and Millie were caught on camera dancing along the road’s iconic zebra crossing.
A ‘musical episode’ of Doctor Who is rumoured to be on the way following the casting of both Jinkx Monsoon and Jonathan Groff, who are both well established singers. Would you like to see the Time Lord sing? Let us know in the comments.

Ncuti's return to set comes following his appearance at King Charles III and Queen Camilla's Coronation Concert, which aired on BBC One on Sunday, May 7. During the Concert, Ncuti and The Royal Shakespeare Company's Mei Mac performed Romeo and Juliet in front of the royals.
Over on social media, fans complimented the attention to detail on set. The Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover features an illegally parked lotus white Volkswagen Beetle and the car was also spotted on the Cardiff street. “They’re doing it holy s***,” one fan wrote upon seeing the car.
As ever, the TARDIS was also spotted on set. There was a distinct purple glow coming from the police box as Ncuti and Millie emerged from it.
Some fans have also claimed that they saw Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda filming. One person said: “Hold up, so apparently a few different people have spotted Lin-Manuel Miranda on set? If Lee Scoresby is in Dr Who, make that the first Series 14 casting I'm excited for! (And would make sense, since it's Bad Wolf)”
Doctor Who returns in November, 2023, with three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will then air over the festive period. For the latest TV and showbiz news sign up to our newsletter here.
