A 30-year-old doctor died after the car she was driving ended up in a river.
Dr Sara Ahmed worked at the Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, Ireland and passed away in what is believed to have been a freak drowning accident.
Dr Ahmed was taken from the vehicle, which partially submerged, at Hoban's Carpark in Castlebar, adjacent to the Castlebar river, the Irish Mirror reports.
Authorities believe that Dr Ahmed had been reversing the car, which breached a safety barrier and ended up in the river.
The Castlebar River had been swollen at the time following heavy rainfall in recent days.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident just before midnight.
Dr. Ahmed was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place.
Shocked medical colleagues at the hospital are being comforted this evening the loss of the popular young medic.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Any road users who were in the area between 10 p.m. and midnight, who may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make it available to gardaí.
