Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir says his players need to adapt quickly to the compromised surface at Optus Stadium, starting with Friday night's blockbuster against Melbourne.

The venue's surface took a pounding last week after two exhibition soccer matches involving EPL clubs and an AFL game were played in the space of three days.
