Doc Rivers has seen this before.
Throughout what has been a really good coaching career — I see you selling him short, NBA Twitter, don’t do it — Rivers has watched as some of his teams have blown leads in the postseason.
That happened once again on Sunday, as his Philadelphia 76ers — up 3-2 against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals — lost the final two games and were eliminated. Not great!
And during that awful Game 7, ABC cameras caught Rivers with his head in his hands, which really summed it all up for the team and its fans alike.
But it also became an instant meme:
Doc Rivers has lost the last five Game 7s he has coached in.
Rivers now has a 6-10 record in Game 7s – his 10 losses are the most Game 7 losses of any coach in NBA history. pic.twitter.com/9us3fsyQCi
