Doc-in-DDO takes charge of rescue operation

RAJKOT: Being as qualified medical professional, Bhavnagar district development officer (DDO) Prashant Jilova’s instinct took over when he witnessed an accident on Ghogha road on Saturday.

Jilova, who has a MBBS degree, was returning after attending the school enrolment drive in Talaja, saw a crowd gathered on Ghogha road where a chakdo rickshaw had overturned. Three persons were injured in the accident.

According to sources, Jilova asked his driver to pull over. The civic servant got down from the car and provided first aid to the injured. He called the 108 emergency service and informed the authorities at Sir T Hospital to remain prepared to take three accident victims.

After giving first aid to the injured, Jilova stayed there till the ambulance arrived.

“I am an MBBS doctor. When I saw the traffic jam due to accident, I went there and found that three persons were injured. I provided them first aid and waited for 25 minutes till all the injured person were shifted to hospital,” said Jilova.

The three injured — Batuk Bariya, Jagdish Bariya and Ladhar Makwana, all residents of Malanka village were stable and under treatment at the hospital.
