Tim Walz. The event was broadcast across 12 television networks, marking the third consecutive night that the DNC has exceeded 20 million viewers.
Comparatively, the viewership on the third night of the 2024 Republican National Convention stood at 17.97 million viewers. The RNC featured speeches from GOP vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr., Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. However, the DNC's viewership on Wednesday fell short of the 22.8 million viewers who watched the third night of the 2020 Democratic convention, according to Nielsen.
Among the television viewers on Wednesday night, MSNBC led with 5.3 million viewers, followed by CNN with 3.3 million, ABC with 3.2 million, NBC with 2.6 million, CBS with 2.1 million, and Fox News with 1.9 million viewers. Nielsen also noted that the 18-34 age demographic witnessed a consistent increase in viewership throughout each night of the DNC, with Wednesday's audience showing a 13.5% rise from Monday night.
