CHENNAI: Days after DMK president and chief minister M K Stalin alleged that the AIADMK had pledged the state’s rights with the BJP, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday said the DMK had been a BJP stooge to remain a part of the coalition at the Centre for five years from 1999.
In a strongly worded statement, the former chief minister alleged that the “minority-DMK regime” of 2006-11 had opposed Jallikattu and laid the foundation for NEET for medical admission, just to be part of a coalition at the Centre. “Stalin is lying that 100% of the DMK’s poll promises have been implemented. In the 29 months he has been in office, he has neither announced a new scheme nor implemented it. The chief minister should stop the false propaganda,” Palaniswami said, urging Stalin to implement welfare programmes and control the rise in prices to truly benefit the people of Tamil Nadu. He said the chief minister was earning the wrath of people for stalling the popular schemes initiated by the previous AIADMK regime and not allocating funds for the projects.
