The Seattle Seahawks may have the NFL’s loudest and most passionate fans, but they aren’t among the league’s biggest brands. This unfortunately stems from the fact Seattle is easily the most geographically isolated market in the NFL, and it is easy to go unnoticed in the Pacific Northwest.
Perhaps the relative isolation and focus elsewhere is a reason why there are not more Seahawks in the top 50 for merchandise sales. In fact, as of the publishing of this article, there is only one Seattle player listed: wide receiver DK Metcalf.
One of the most recognizable stars at his position, Metcalf being the “face” so-to-speak of the Seahawks is understandable. However, even Metcalf isn’t ranked all that high. Metcalf only comes in at No. 47 overall.
Metcalf ranks ahead of Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson, 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, and Baker Mayfield. Somehow, the former Browns, Panthers, Rams and current Buccaneers quarterback is top 50 in merch sales.
Perhaps Metcalf won’t be the only one for much longer. Fellow Seattle wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba looks to be electric, and with the throwback uniforms coming out, I predict linebacker Bobby Wagner makes a return to the list.
