The Blessed Madonna has responded to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak using one of their songs in a recent social media post.
On Saturday, the Tory Leader shared an Instagram reel using the artist’s track Marea (we’ve lost dancing) with Fred Again….
The video saw Sunak visiting Nissan factories in Sunderland, and meeting with the likes of Jeremy Hunt, David Cameron, and King Charles. He captioned the post: “We go again”.
In response to the PM using their track, the American DJ, who is non-binary, took to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote: “It’s been pointed out to me that Rishi Sunak has used ‘We’ve Lost Dancing’ on an Instagram post.
“For the record, I’d rather hear my own death rattle echoing in my ears, as I plunge happily into the void than hear the sound of my voice in an ad for the Tories”.
The musician, real name Marea Stamper, later repeated their sentiments in a comment under Mr Sunak’s video, and added: “What comes next is an election.”

I just want to say, for the record, I’d rather hear my own death rattle echoing in my ears, as I plunge happily into the void than hear the sound of my voice in an ad for the Tories
One Instagram user tagged both The Blessed Madonna and Fred again… in a comment, asking: “you ok with this, out of interest?” To which, the producer replied: “I am absolutely repulsed by this”.
Stamper’s response comes after they signed a letter calling for a ceasefire in Gaza along with over 4,000 other musicians, including The Last Dinner Party, Enter Shikari, and Architects. As of November 24, the Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks has risen to 14,854.
The Blessed Madonna is also an ambassador for Choose Love, which provides humanitarian aid to, and advocacy for, refugees around the world, while Mr Sunak has told MPs that he would do “whatever it takes” to keep asylum seekers from entering the UK.
