Cathy Guetta has launched a new business venture, turning attention to the world of tech in an unexpected move.
The former wife of DJ legend David Guetta has launched new app Djaayz which allows users to book DJs for nightclubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and private events.
The app, deemed the ‘Uber for DJs’, has been made in collaboration with French tech entrepreneur Raphael Aflalo.
It boasts over 3,500 DJ profiles in various music genres, from EDM to Disco, with bookings ranging from £100 up to £5,000 for an hour and a half set.
The app initially launched in France last year, before becoming available in the UK.
Guetta is well-versed in the DJ and party scene, having built an impressive early career as a nightclub manager, and been married to one of the most successful DJs in the world.
She received international recognition back in 2003 after creating the popular F*** Me I’m Famous club nights in Ibiza with her ex-husband, and is credited as the main driving force behind the French DJ’s huge global success.
Speaking about her new venture, Guetta said: ââ”We never expected F*** Me I’m Famous to lead to international stardom! But these days it’s harder than ever for emerging talent to get noticed.
“After years of bringing together DJs and event organisers from all backgrounds, I wanted to create a new platform that makes the whole process easier, faster, more fun and more rewarding in just a few clicks.”
Cathy and David Guetta married in 1992 and share two children. Following their divorce in 2014, the pair continue to publicly praise and support one another in their careers.
Guetta is responsible for creating the first electronic music party with Unighted By Cathy Guetta, bringing together over 40,000 clubbers alongside her ex and fellow DJs Carl Cox, Swedish House Mafia and more.
The co-creator is now focused on finding fresh DJ talent with her new app.
“I want to give back to both the club owners and the DJs by connecting them directly through Djaayz, facilitating beautiful new relationships and helping to launch careers,” Guetta added.
“Djaayz cuts out a lot of the struggle of trying to get noticed as an up-and-coming artist. I can’t wait to find the next superstar DJ on the app!"
