Tesco is launching a limited range of sweet treats for Diwali. Thousands across the UK will celebrate the festival of lights from October 24.
Inspired by traditional Indian sweets, known as Mithai, it features a mix of sharing platters, cupcakes and sweet treats. Known as the festival of lights, Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture and is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists. The range includes:
Finest Spiced Almonds & Filled Medjool Date Sharing Platter (£9)
Specially designed to share at gatherings with family and friends it features Medjool dates, hand filled with marzipan and chopped pistachios and a selection of crunchy almonds infused with cinnamon & coconut, maple & chilli and honey & dried rose petals.
Fudge (£2.50)
The range includes a trio of fudge. Chai-Spiced Fudge is inspired by traditional Barfi and infused with a spiced-chai flavour. The Chocolate & Pistachio Fudge has two layers of fudge and Coconut Ice with a hint of Cardamon (£2.50) is fragrant and sweet.
Finest Festive Fruit & Nut Selection (£7)
Flavours include salt & pepper cashews, spiced almonds, roasted pistachios and succulent apricots and dates.
Diwali cupcakes (£3)
The cupcakes are made to a vegan recipe and available in two flavours: vanilla sponge with a hidden raspberry centre, and rich chocolate sponge with a vanilla frosting
Chocolate lollies and coins
Completing the range are Diwali Milk Chocolate Lollies (90p) and Diwali Milk Chocolate Coins (70p).
Diwali celebrates peace and joy, with families and friends coming together to enjoy religious ceremonies, exchanging of gifts and feasting. The full range of Diwali products will be available online and in stores nationwide from September 8.
