A diverse array of deeply personal and ambitious animated films have been nominated for the best animated feature category this year. Each film explores unique storytelling themes and stylistic approaches, reflecting the filmmakers' personal experiences and influences.
For instance, the film 'Elemental' by Pete Sohn delves into themes of immigration and cultural differences, inspired by Sohn's own life experiences. Sohn's admiration for Disney animation legend Walter Peregoy and artist Tyrus Wong influenced the visual style of the film.
