Parents have been left baffled after spotting strange Facebook Marketplace ads for budget Grinch impersonator experiences. The homemade Grinch shows are being sold for anywhere between £15 and £50, and offer families the opportunity to scare their children on a budget, as professional actors can cost nearly £500 a pop.
The phenomena comes a year after an £85 Grinch famously trashed a fuming mum's home, drenching her son in green juice and allegedly destroying 'every single bit of party food' - much to her dismay. This year, the grumpy impersonators are back, and they have some rather usual services to offer.
Taking to Facebook Marketplace to sell their experiences, someone posing as a Grinch wrote: "Would anyone like a Grinch visit, £15 includes a selection box, photos, dance, and kids wrapped in toilet roll. £3 for any extra kids."
In the comments, people found it hilarious and were horrified in equal measure.
Someone wrote: "I think this is possibly the most disturbing thing I have ever seen! I'm also intrigued to know if they supply the kids wrapped in toilet roll or if I have to find my own?"
Another joked: "Has the famous £85 grinch dropped its prices?"
Someone else pretending to be the Grinch claimed they were facing high demand for their £25 service after posting a photo of them and a woman wrapped in festive toilet roll.
The Liverpool-based festive grump, who was also pictured lying on the ground surrounded by cereal, said: "Christmas visits available please message us for details booking up very fast.
"You don't want to miss out on our Grinch he's the naughtiest about."
Another - for £45 - promised to get kids and family around Renfrew into the Christmas spirit.
In December 2021, Laura Magill said she was left outraged after a Grinch impersonator who was supposed to mess up her children’s beds, put toilet roll around her tree and have a pillow fight, stole their Christmas by completely trashing her house.
She said she had 'never been so disgusted' in her life as the actor allegedly destroyed all the party food, broke the tree decorations, and even poured washing up liquid, juice, and smashed eggs on the floor… as well as her son.
