Distraught elderly lady heartbroken as tiny puppy is snatched from her car

An elderly lady has been left "distraught" after her new sausage dog puppy was snatched from her car in Somerset.

Lost pet charity Beauty's Legacy has launched an appeal for information on the incident and is offering a reward to anybody who can help.

Archie the 14-week-old dachshund was taken in his crate from his owner's car on April 11, reports Somerset Live.

His elderly owner attempted to chase down the thieves after they stole Archie on Enmore Road near Bridgwater, but unfortunately didn't succeed in catching them.

No sightings have since been made and the family are desperate to locate tiny Archie and reunite him with his beloved owner.

Lisa Dean, from the charity, told Somerset Live: "Archie was 14 weeks old when he was stolen on April 11. He is a smooth-haired Dachshund.

"The owner took Archie to a field where she keeps horses at Enmore Road. She left Archie in a crate in the car for a few minutes while she went to see the horses, because he has not yet had all the injections he needs as a puppy.

"However, we think she was followed, a Land Rover pulled up and the thieves forced the window and took the crate and drove off. The vehicle was an old-style Land Rover.

"We have had some people come forward with some information, but we still have not been able to locate Archie. He is microchipped and we also have his DNA so therefore he will be hard to move on for the thieves.

"The impact on the family is massive - they are just distraught."

When stolen dogs are reunited with their owners, it is always a beautiful moment.

Recently, cocker spaniel Ollie found his way back to his owners, Mark and Paula, after he was stolen from a kennel in Rye, East Sussex.

The one-year-old therapy dog was captured on camera rushing to embrace Paula as she burst into tears.

Mark said: "This week has been the worst nightmare of my life.

"Ollie was bought as a therapy dog for my wife and him going missing absolutely destroyed her – she hadn’t stopped crying since last Thursday.

"Now she’s like a changed woman!"

Mark and Paula were utterly grateful for the social media appeals, police officers and charity staff that collectively helped bring Ollie home.
