SCOTRAIL has confirmed there is some disruption across Scotland’s rail network this morning as a result of flooding and strong winds.
Although the worst of Storm Henk has hit England and Wales, the Met Office did warn on Tuesday the country would be hit by showers and even snow in some parts.
An update on ScotRail’s Twitter/X page shortly after 7am this morning said: “Due to flooding of the railway between Dyce and Inverurie, trains are currently only able to use one line.”
ScotRail explained this means the following:
- Inverurie-Montrose services start/terminate Aberdeen
- Aberdeen-Inverness services will be delayed
- Aberdeen and Inverurie have been delayed or suspended
It added a mini bus is “on standby at Aberdeen from 8.30am that can be used as required”.
Elsewhere, an update from Network Rail Scotland confirmed that the following speed restrictions are in place due to “heavy rain and high winds”:
- Wick line until 0900 today (January 2)
- Aberdeen-Inverness until 3pm today
- Dundee-Aberdeen until 0900 tomorrow (January 3)
The storm has led to 300 flood warnings across England and Wales while 10,000 homes remain without power on Wednesday morning.
