Disney+ viewers on social media are buzzing with excitement following the release of the first trailer for its upcoming The Full Monty sequel.
Original stars Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, and Tom Wilkinson will reunite for a new TV series set a whole 25 years after the hit movie. The original 1997 comedy followed a maverick group of men who turned to stripping to earn a living after the steel mill they worked at closed down.
It garnered an Oscar for best original musical or comedy score and was also nominated for three other Academy Awards. Now, the gang are getting back together for the new Disney+ show of the same name.

The trailer for the series shows Gaz (played by Trainspotting actor Carlyle) attempting to bond with his estranged teenage daughter Destiny, played by Talitha Wing. The trailer also features the tune of Hot Chocolate's You Sexy Thing which was memorably featured in the original film.
While both the film and series are set in the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield, camera crews were spotted in Greater Manchester last summer. Cast members were photographed outside the old Specsavers unit at Crompton Place Shopping Centre in Bolton in August.
After watching the trailer, fans on social media expressed their sheer excitement at the nostalgic comeback, with some admitting they had no idea a sequel was in the works. Others were glad to see so many of the original cast reunited for the project.
One user wrote: "Looks amazing! Loved the film and I used to live around the corner from where some of it was filmed! Definitely on my 'To watch list'!"
One fan reacted with shock, writing: "What!?! Yes... I'm going to have to watch this." Another commented: "Where the heck did this come from." Another said: "I’m sorry…WHAT????????"
Another user said: "The Full Monty is one of my favourite British movies (along with Shaun Of The Dead) and this looks like it has the same heart. It's good to see so many of the original cast returning." A third user wrote: "Looks fab will definitely be watching", while another said: "Looks promising. Really hope it smashes it."
"Seeing a sequel series to a 1997 UK film on Disney+ is certainly something I didn't see happening in 2023 but here we are!" a final fan said.
Disney+ will launch the eight-part series on June 14.
