Disney+ subscribers 'boycott' platform as 48 popular shows set to disappear from streaming service

Following the announcement of the removal of several popular television series and films, some Disney+ subscribers claim they will "boycott" the streaming service. As part of a reported cost cutting measure, almost 50 titles will be removed, including Willow, Mighty Ducks: Game Changers and Voices Rising: The Music of Wakanda Forever.

The removal of titles will begin around May 26 and has sparked a furious response from some Twitter users. Disney's CFO Christine McCarthy previously stated, cuts were incoming, saying: "We are in the process of reviewing the content on our DTC (direct to consumer) services to align with the strategic changes in our approach to content curation."

Many taking to social media have threatened to boycott Disney+ following the announcement it will be cutting many titles. It comes as the platform lost four million subscribers in the first three months of 2023.
