Disney fans in Bristol are bracing themselves for the return of The Lion King's hit musical, which is expected to be a high point on the city's cultural calendar this year. Tickets are in demand for the award-winning show as fans prepare to welcome it back to the Bristol Hippodrome.
Bristol Live's Mark Taylor has already praised the latest production of the West End hit as it begins its regional tour around the UK and Ireland. The Lion King is comprised of a hefty cast of over 50 actors, singers and dancers, as well as a full-scale orchestra in the true spirit of the mind-blowing production.
It follows the enthralling story of Simba as he journeys from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands. Now in its 22nd year at London's Lyceum Theatre, the chance to see director Julie Taymor’s acclaimed version of one of the Disney family favourites is an opportunity worth grasping.

The production announced its return to the Bristol stage in September last year after a turbulent time for theatre during the Covid-19 pandemic. With the Bristol Hippodrome's theatre programme returning to full swing, the city welcomes the return of The Lion King for the first time since 2019 after a five-star rated run of performances.
The Bristol leg of the tour is from March 1 until March 19 with a mixture of matinee and evening shows on offer. But what are the chances of securing a ticket to the hit show and at what cost? Well, you might still be in luck but fans will have to act fast with ticket numbers diminishing by the second.
How much are tickets?
Theatre-goers should be aware that tickets prices vary from show to show depending on the seat. Ticket fees for The Lion King range between £20-£90 depending on which level you choose to watch from in the auditorium, with more affordable tickets based near the back while pricier options are located closer to the stage.
It's best to check the ATG Tickets website or call Bristol Hippodrome to find the best prices suited to your requirements.
How many tickets are left?
Ticket numbers are dwindling for the Bristol run of the production, with low availability on almost all nights with two days having already sold out completely. As it stands the best availability for tickets is currently for the midweek performances from Tuesday to Thursday, according to a spokesperson for Bristol Hippodrome.
There is both a matinee and an evening performance on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Sunday has matinee performances only and there are no scheduled shows on Monday in the Bristol run of The Lion King.
Fans of the musical are being advised to act quickly to secure their space for one of the biggest shows of all time. Note children under three are not permitted inside the venue and all persons below the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and sat with them in the auditorium.
Head to the ATG Tickets website for full information on ticket prices and availability.
The Lion King comes to the Bristol Hippodrome from March 1-19, 2022 for 2.30pm and 7.30pm performances.
