A Gwent doctor who lied about having carried out an operation has been suspended for three months. Dr Omar Mansour was found to have been "dishonest" by observing a nurse perform a catheterisation on a patient at Neville Hall Hospital in Abergavenny in May 2019 before later completing feedback claiming to be the nurse and writing that it was he who had carried out the procedure.
Appearing at a misconduct hearing before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) between Monday, March 14, and Tuesday, March 22, Dr Mansour asserted over email and face-to-face with the nurse on 28 and 29 May, 2019, that it was the nurse who had completed the feedback. On October 4, 2019, Dr Mansour, who was a foundation doctor at the time, was also found to have given a false impression that an examination of a patient had happened when presenting his overall examination result to a senior clinician.
