Boss Darren Young has called on his Binos to play for pride as their season ends against Edinburgh City at Forthbank tomorrow.
Seventh-placed Albion will probably face weakened opponents as City rest stars before Tuesday’s play-off semi-final against Dumbarton.
But Young will urge his men to go out and prove they are worthy of keeping their place in the squad next term.
Stirling began the current campaign with aspirations of promotion – something they last achieved in 2013/14.
They were second behind eventual champs Kelty Hearts at the end of October.
But a dreadful run of results saw them slide down the table and they have yet to rally as the season grinds to a closure.
Young will inevitably look to make some changes for next term, having had four months to assess the squad since replacing Kevin Rutkiewicz just before Christmas.
It was 1-0 to City when the sides met at Ainslie Park in February and the capital club have an excellent record at Forthbank since joining the SPFL.
They are unbeaten on their last six visits to the stadium (four wins and two draws) since goals from Darren Smith and Ross Kavanagh earned Albion a 2-0 victory back in August 2017.
Young said: “Last week’s 1-1 draw against Albion Rovers probably summed up our season. I thought we were the better team on the day but we didn’t take our chances and lost a poor goal – I seem to be saying the same things on a regular basis after games and it’s frustrating.
“We didn’t give Rovers many opportunities and we could have been 2-0 or 3-0 up at half-time but that didn’t happen and in the second half they got a break of the ball for the equaliser. Even after that, I thought we got into good positions but our decision making could have been better at times.
“Our home form has not been good enough and we need to be better than against Elgin two weeks ago.
“Hopefully we can get a win to finish the season and look forward to next year.”
Meanwhile, the SPFL have confirmed that fixtures for the new season will be published on Friday, June 17.
All four divisions are due to kick off on the weekend of July 30/31.
The competitive action resumes with the group stage of the Premier Sports Cup on Saturday, July 9.
