Scott Bloomquist, a Dirt Late Model racing legend and Hall of Famer, tragically passed away in a plane crash near his home in Tennessee at the age of 60. The incident occurred early Friday morning in Mooresburg, as confirmed by local authorities.
The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department could not provide specific details but the Hawkins County Rescue Squad confirmed a plane crash on Brooks Road near Highway 31 around 7:50 a.m. Moberly Motorsports Park also verified Bloomquist’s death on Facebook.
Reports indicated that Bloomquist crashed into a barn on his property while flying a small two-seat aircraft. He gained prominence in the 1980s and further solidified his career in the 1990s, winning the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion in 2009, 2010, and 2016. Bloomquist was inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in 2002.
