Irish and American diplomats have held top level meetings with the authorities in Dubai to try and get the Kinahans kicked out of the emirate.
It is understood that the Irish embassy in Abu Dhabi has been heavily involved in the campaign which the Government is confident will eventually succeed. A Foreign Affairs source said: "The Kinahans have invested substantial funds in Dubai and Government officials there have been slow to move against them.
"They are hiding behind the excuse that there is no extradition agreement behind Ireland and Dubai. However attitudes are starting to change and as soon as the Kinahans become what is perceived as a political problem for the United Arab Emirates, they will kick them out.
