Dion Dublin explains why Callum Wilson's World Cup call-up is the right decision

Dion Dublin believes England boss Gareth Southgate has made the right call by naming Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson in his 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Southgate chose Wilson over Brentford marksman Ivan Toney and AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham. Although Toney has netted eight times in the Premier League this term, Callum Wilson has notched three goals in as many games for Newcastle.

Wilson has spearheaded a clinical attack that has scored 20 goals across their last seven league games to help Newcastle climb into third place.

Dublin says that Wilson has come into form at exactly the right time and explains how he can add something different to the squad in Qatar.

" I felt for Ivan Toney but I must say Callum Wilson has hit form at the right time, as has Maddison. He’s got that I’m happy to go in behind as many times as I want to, I don’t think we’ve got players [like that] in the squad. He’s got pace, power, he can finish. He’s a natural centre-forward."
