Diogo Jota shoulders Mo Salah burden as Liverpool make transfer decision

Diogo Jota did the business for Liverpool on Thursday night.

The Reds booked a Wembley berth for the Carabao Cup final after a 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, with the Portuguese sharpshooter netting both of the goals.

With some key players missing through injury and participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would have been delighted with the efforts of his team and now only Chelsea stand between them and another piece of silverware.

Mirror Sport has your latest Liverpool headlines after another memorable night for the Reds under Klopp.

Is Jota currently the best striker in the Premier League? Let us know in the comments section below!

Jota shoulders burden without Salah

After the two sides played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg, there were questions asked by plenty about how Liverpool would fare without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Liverpool make loan decision

Rhys Williams has been recalled from his loan spell at Swansea City.

The 20-year-old did a stellar job in difficult circumstances for the Reds last season, stepping up when Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip were sidelined with long-term injuries.

While Williams will be behind those three players and summer signing Ibrahima Konate in the pecking order, the decision to bring him back would indicate the Reds are ready to sell Nat Phillips this month.

Phillips has made just three appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season and it's been reported the Reds have already turned down two offers for him, one of which is believed to be from Watford.

Reds linked with Carvalho

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the situation around Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho.

The young midfielder has caught the eye since breaking into the first team at Craven Cottage and is now playing an important role for Marco Silva's free-scoring Championship leaders.

The 19-year-old has notched seven goals and two assists from 16 outings in the second tier this season, typically operating in support of central striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Carvalho's contract is up at the end of next season and should he continue to showcase the same levels of performance between now and then, he will undoubtedly have a number of suitors.
