Diogo Dalot makes Erik ten Hag promise ahead of his Manchester United arrival

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has vowed to adapt to the demands of Erik ten Hag ahead of the Dutchman's arrival at Old Trafford.

Dalot found himself out of the starting XI at the beginning of the campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, since Ralf Rangnick arrived on an interim basis, Dalot has managed to make the position his own and has now appeared 28 times for United in the 2021-22 season.

Heading into what will be a new era at Old Trafford under the stewardship of Ten Hag, Dalot spoke to the club's official website about the full-back role. He explained: "Yes, I think the full-back position has been growing a lot in terms of the game plan and the inside of the game.

"For me, it has been a very good journey, to have different coaches with different ideas, so I can adapt to every situation. I’m sure, with the new manager, I will try to adapt quick and show I can help this team and this club.

"I think that’s the mentality everyone will have, to play, because, at the end of the day, we want to play but first is the team." Before the Dutchman can settle in at Old Trafford, United still have two games of their campaign left to play, starting with their penultimate fixture against Brighton on Saturday.

Looking ahead to the run-in, Dalot added: "Obviously we want to finish well with good performances and good results. We did well in the last game and now we have Saturday to focus on.

"We know it’s going to be a difficult game as they are having a fantastic season this year. So we’ll be ready for any kind of challenge. We want to be at our best level possible and win the game."
