Dillon Danis has given his side of an altercation that took place with UFC legend Nate Diaz last month.
Danis and Diaz were in attendance for UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden to watch Israel Adesanya lose his middleweight title to Alex Pereira. Diaz was swarmed by fans outside the arena after the fight and they watched on as he bumped into Danis, his friend and Conor McGregor's manager, Audie Attar.
Footage of the altercation was recorded by fans and Danis has revealed that he was involved in a separate altercation with Diaz that took place inside the New York arena. The incident was not caught on video, but Danis claims he and Diaz threw their drinks at each other.
"They didn't get in on camera, but me and a couple of friends went to get some beers and I saw his friend [Chris Avila]. He's with Nate, who is just looking at me. He's like, 'f*** you man', and then just throws his drink on me, so I took my beer and hit him in the face with it. Everybody was brawling and the cops got involved, it was going back and forth and Nate was trying to separate it," Danis said on The MMA Hour.
In the video captured of their second altercation, which took place outside of the arena, Danis is seen standing alongside MMA manager Attar before a bottle is thrown at him by Diaz. As words are exchanged between Danis' and Diaz's entourage, cooler heads appeared to prevail but then the latter unexpectedly slaps the latter's friend.

Danis said of his second scuffle with Diaz: "We were outside and then I get hit with an empty Snapple bottle, I turn around and it's Nate again. We're going back and forth, he goes to me, 'f*** you, don't come that close to me', then I said, 'what are you going to do about it?'. He kind of slapped my friend then I came to him and that was it. Apparently he wants to have a boxing match with me. I'll do it in MMA or boxing."
A fight between Diaz and Danis could take place in boxing after the former recently parted ways with the UFC following a 15-year stint in the promotion. Danis has to focus on his boxing debut beforehand, as the Bellator fighter meets YouTuber KSI at Wembley Arena in London next month.
