Dillon Danis could be reunited with Conor McGregor ahead of KSI boxing fight

Dillon Danis is planning to finish his camp for his boxing fight with KSI by returning to the gym he trained alongside Conor McGregor for a number of world title fights.

McGregor remains out of action with his leg injury, but has made sporadic visits to Straight Blast Gym's Dublin HQ. And the duo could reunite as Danis works towards making his return to action in a boxing debut after three-and-a-half years out of the Bellator cage with a knee injury.

The controversial jiu-jitsu black belt is a divisive figure in combat sports, and despite last fighting in June 2019 has managed to maintain relevance through a relentless social media presence. And he will finally let his hands do the talking on January 14 when he faces YouTube star KSI at Wembley Arena.

Former Bellator lightweight title contender Peter Queally, who is ranked No.9 in the division, is close friends with Danis, and has trained boxing with him in the past. And he is confident of his friend's ability to upset the odds and land a win over KSI that would turn the influencer boxing scene on its head.

"I'm excited to see it," Queally told Mirror Fighting at Bellator and FM104's Christmas Toy Drive in SBG last weekend. "I think a boxing fight is a good call for him considering the trouble he's had with his knee, I like the idea of him boxing rather than doing MMA for now, it's much easier on your body to train for boxing.

"I think he can beat him, KSI is pretty good but I think Dillon is a lot bigger than him, significantly bigger than him. KSI to me looks about my size [5'10" with a 74.5" reach], where as Dillon is a big man. If you see him in a picture beside me, I'm pretty small compared to him.

"I think he's going to have a big height advantage, he's training hard, I was talking to him on Friday night, he's visiting a lot of boxing-specific gyms in New York and taking this very seriously, so I'm wishing him well. He's going to come over here before the fight, I think, so I'll get a bit of training in with him then hopefully and I'm planning to be at his fight as well to help him any way I can."
