Dillian Whyte's trainer has claimed he has never watched the 'Body Snatcher' fight prior to his ring return this weekend.
Whyte will return to the ring this weekend for the first time since losing in his title challenge to Tyson Fury, where he will look to return to winning ways against Jermaine Franklin at the OVO Wembley Arena. The 'Body Snatcher' will work with new head trainer Buddy McGirt, who has worked with the likes of Derek Chisora and Janibek Alimkhanuly.
The Briton has been training in the US for his recent fight, where he will have looked to plan a much improved display after his lacklustre defeat to Fury last time out. And McGirt has admitted he has not seen Whyte's opponent Franklin fight and prepares his boxing talent for all eventualities in the ring.
“I’m going to 150 percent honest with you," McGirt said at today's press conference to preview Whyte's ring return. "I don’t study anybody; I prepare for any and everything. I’m not going to sit and worry about who he’s fighting, I’m not worried about what they’re doing because I’m preparing my guy for any and everything.
“I believe if you prepare for one thing, you see something and you look for it and doesn’t happen in the fight – it’s too damn late. But if you’re prepared for any and everything no matter what the other guy does, you’ve got an answer for it and that’s the key. Here’s the funny part, I’ve never seen Dillian fight either.
"I had to deal with him for the last six weeks and that’s enough. But look, we had a great training camp, we aren’t expecting an easy fight, I believe there’s no such thing as an easy fight, especially at this stage in the game. You’ve got to be ready for any and everything and we’ve done that. Well, Dillian’s done that because when the bell rings, he takes three steps in, and I take three steps out.”

Whyte will be looking to make a statement against his undefeated opponent, particularly given his plans to return to challenging for world honours in the near future. A win for the British star is expected to set up a huge all-British rematch with Anthony Joshua in 2023, providing he comes through the test against Franklin.
However Whyte has claimed he is only focused on the task at hand and considers every fight a must-win. “I don’t care about the Anthony Joshua fight now," he said. "I’m focused on Franklin. There’s been pressure in all of my fights. I weren’t even an ABA Champion. People forget I had seven amateur fights. Every fight for me has always been must-win my whole career. I’ve become quite used to that.”
