MUMBAI: Within a week of senior advocate and former Advocate General of Maharashtra Darius Khambatta opining that the Mumbai Cricket Association's 85th Annual General Meeting conducted on March 19 was legally valid, senior MCA member and Orient Cricket Club representative Sripad Halbe, who chaired the 'AGM,' has written to Dilip Bhosale, retired Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, asking him to take over as the MCA's Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer for a period of one year.
In a letter (reviewed by TOI) to Bhosale on Friday, with a copy marked to MCA president Vijay Patil, Halbe has written: "We're happy to inform you that the 85th AGM of the MCA has appointed you as the Ethics Officer-cum Ombudsman of the association for a period one year, commencing from 1st April 2022 till 31st March, 2023. Kindly send your acceptance for the same. The undersigned was elected as the chairman of the AGM held on March 19, 2022. Sr Counsel Mr Darius Khambatta has opined that the meeting was validly held and also that the resolutions passed therein are constitutionally valid. The minutes of that meeting and the opinion of Khambatta are enclosed herewith."
