Didier Drogba has told Chelsea why Manchester United are plotting a move for Napoli star Victor Osimhen. The 23-year-old striker has been heavily linked with an exit from the Italian giants for some time now as he continues to impress in the Serie A.
Osimhen, who sees his deal at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium expire in 2025, has featured 10 times for Luciano Spalletti's side this season, directly contributing towards 11 goals. His impressive displays have led Napoli to an unbeaten start to the campaign as they sit top of the table.
The Nigeria international has been one of the Serie A's most prolific goal-scorers in recent years and his bright start to the season has further courted interest in his services. According to the Manchester Evening News, Osimhen is of interest to the Red Devils as the club compile a shortlist of targets ahead of the January transfer window.

However, a move could be hard to engineer following the £49million-rated striker's great start to the season. Osimhen was reportedly close to joining Arsenal in the summer as Mikel Arteta delved into the market for a new talisman.
However, a move failed to materialise and the Gunners signed Gabriel Jesus instead. With the Nigerian courting great interest in his services, Drogba has already detailed exactly what all the fuss is about.
During Napoli's Champions League clash with Ajax in October, Osimhen allowed fellow teammate to take a penalty Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Taking to Twitter, the Chelsea legend wrote: "That’s a complete striker. Unselfishness… The real meaning of 'win as A TEAM'!!!!"
In typical Osimhen fashion, he went on to score later in the game as Napoli waltzed away 4-1 victors. With Drogba's endorsement under his belt, there's no surprise as to why he's been linked with a move to the Premier League lately.
Speaking the summer, the striker's representative Roberto Calenda told Radio Kiss Kiss that his client is keen to stay at Napoli despite the speculation. Calenda said: "We haven't found out now that Osimhen is the subject of interest from so many teams.
"But things are done in three: who sells, who buys and the player. But I, the boy and Napoli had very clear ideas. Whoever talked about a departure made a mistake.
"It was Victor's will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his teammates. Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League.
"He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well."
