Amid a controversy in India over the BBC documentary on Narendra Modi, a story that gained wide traction was that UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had supported his Indian counterpart and dismissed the criticism of him implied in the series. But it really depended on who you read.
The reports were based on a parliamentary exchange during Prime Minister’s Questions – a weekly jousting match in the House of Commons where the prime minister takes a series of questions from MPs. The highlight of PMQs is of course a string of politically charged exchanges between the Leader of the Opposition and the PM – more theatre than serious political debate.
