Diane Keaton says she hasn't been on a date in 35 years but has 'a lot of male friends'

Diane Keaton has admitted she hasn't been on a date in 35 years and said she is "never" on the receiving end of male attention.

The Hollywood icon has starred in a number of rom-coms throughout the years, including Annie Hall and Father of the Bride, but it seems her personal life is not filled with romance.

The 77-year-old has never been married and last went on a date when she was in her early 40s, but she revealed she has "a lot of male friends".

When asked if men "ask her out" in a new interview, Diane said: "Never. All right? Let's just get that straight. That one's important."

Laughing, she added: "I haven't been on a date in, I would say, 35 years. No dates."

Speaking to InStyle magazine, she said: "I have a lot of male friends. I have a lot of friends, but no dates. No mwah-mwah."

Despite the lack of romantic attention in recent years, Diane has previously dated a number of A-list stars.

In 1969, she started dating Woody Allen and they briefly lived together during the production. However, by the time of the film release of the same name in 1972, their living arrangement became informal.

It was Diane's sense of humour that attracted the film director and she has said that he remains one of her closest friends.

She also had an on-off relationship with her Godfather co-star Al Pacino, which ended after they finished filming The Godfather Part III.

Speaking to Barbara Walters back in 2004, she said: "Al was simply the most entertaining man. To me, that's, that is the most beautiful face.

"I think Warren [Beatty] was gorgeous, very pretty, but Al's face is like whoa. Killer, killer face."

Diane was already dating Warren Beatty in 1979 when they both starred in Reds.

Their relationship was talked about by everyone, but it ended shortly after filming for Reds wrapped.

Troubles with the production are thought to have strained the relationship, including numerous financial and scheduling problems, however Diane remains friends with the actor.

The actress made the decision to adopt two children at the age of 50 following the death of her father.

She welcomed her daughter Dexter, now 24, in 1996 and her son Duke, now 18, in 2001.

She later said motherhood has been "the most completely humbling experience that I've ever had."
