Diablo 4 'your account is currently locked' bug – here's how to fix it

Players are bumping up against an error when trying to enter Diablo 4, but there’s a simple workaround to resolve the issue.

Diablo 4 released earlier this month with players experiencing only very marginal issues getting onto the servers. Of course, being the first game in the Diablo series to truly be an always-online experience there was always the risk of problems, but aside from those on PS5 reporting log in issues on day one, Activision Blizzard’s game has mostly stayed stable. Unfortunately an error appearing more than most recently is one that states “your account is currently locked”.

As you can probably guess, despite what Diablo 4 claims, it probably isn’t the case that your account is “locked” – it’s more likely a problem at the game’s end. This doesn’t stop the issue from being incredibly frustrating whenever you’re midway through a dungeon or aren’t able to jump into a game. So with that said, there are a few ways you can resolve and try and fix the Diablo 4 “your account is currently locked” message, otherwise known as Error Code 395002.

How to fix the Diablo 4 “your account is currently locked” bug

Error 395002 most often pops up when there are too many players trying to log into Diablo 4 at the same time. It can even occur when you’re in the game, in which case you’ll be kicked out and the “your account is currently locked” message will inevitably appear. Unfortunately, there’s no reliable way to overcome this error every time, other than to log off the server, wait a few minutes, before trying to log in again.

This fix of sorts is the only known workaround for now until Activision Blizzard is able to provide a more formal solution. Error Code 395002 is an odd case where Diablo 4 is proving almost too popular, to the extent that a lot of players are being kicked out or are having trouble logging on in the first place. If logging out and back in again doesn’t work, it might be a good idea to restart the game entirely, whether you’re playing on Xbox, PlayStation or PC.

You can’t outright fix the “your account is currently locked” message but probably the simplest way to avoid it is to play at a time when Diablo 4 will be less busy. In most countries including the UK this is said to be later on in the evening, specifically we’d suggest from 9pm onwards.
