Diablo 4 live stream: start time, how to watch and what to expect

Activision Blizzard is set to dish out all the juicy details on Diablo 4 Season 1 later this week in a big hour-long developer livestream.

Update: Activision Blizzard has now confirmed the Diablo 4 Season 1 release date via the developer update live stream.

Pretty much since Diablo 4 launch on PlayStation, Xbox and PC at the start of June, diehard players have been clamouring for more ways to dive into the endgame. Sure, Activision Blizzard has been fairly quick to hop on server issues with hot fixes and one big patch in update 1.0.3 in the weeks since launch, but this has all been done to enhance the content that’s already there. Diablo 4 Season 1 is what most players have wanted more details on – and they’re set to receive it soon.

We know this because, in a recent news post on the official Blizzard website, the developer announced its next Diablo 4 Developer Update Livestream. It’s here where associate game director Joseph Piepiora and lead game producer Timothy Ismay are set to talk all things Diablo 4, and specifically what to expect from the first season. That’s why it’s worth ensuring you know what time it starts as well as what specific Diablo content is set to be covered.

Diablo 4 Developer Update Livestream start time and how to watch

The Diablo 4 Developer Update Livestream will begin at 7pm BST / 2pm EDT/ 11am PDT on Thursday, July 6 . The stream is set to be split into two segments according to a Twitter post from global community development director Adam Fletcher, the first covering mobile title Diablo Immortal for roughly 15 minutes while the remainder of the “60+ minutes” show will focus on Diablo 4.

The event will be streamed on Blizzard’s Diablo dedicated YouTube and Twitch channels, so you have a choice for which platform to watch it on. You can access both at the follow links or watch the embed above.

Alongside the hour-long livestream Blizzard has said it will publish two articles that will “extrapolate” on the topics featured. This ensures that anyone who has either missed it live or doesn’t want to scrub through the on demand version can still keep up to date on all things Diablo.

What to expect from the Diablo 4 Developer Update Livestream

Diablo Immortal gubbins aside, the main focus of the Diablo 4 segment is sure to focus on what upcoming content will be featured when Diablo 4 Season 1 arrives in “mid-July”. For one thing, it’s almost guaranteed that Activision Blizzard will give players a hard release date and start time for when they’ll be able to jump in.

We already know that Diablo 4 players will have to start a new character class to take part in the debut season’s Seasonal Journey and 100-tier Battle Pass, but we still don’t know exactly what they’ll actually be doing within it. Sure, key areas of interest across the Sanctuary map like Waypoints, Strongholds and Dungeons will be reset, yet what’s unknown are the new tasks and objectives that will make up the bulk of the season.

Joseph Piepora in recent comments has been hesitant to not call the new season’s arrival an ‘expansion’ but has said that these three-month long post-launch updates will see the introduction of new storylines and mechanics. The Diablo 4 Developer Update Livestream is sure to touch upon what these will exactly be, as well as what cosmetic rewards players can look forward to as part of the Battle Pass, 63 tiers of which will be unlockable for those that pay for the Premium version while the remaining 27 are free to everyone who takes part.

What we shouldn’t expect this early into Diablo 4’s lifecycle are details on any potential new classes or upcoming expansions. Let’s not forget that prior to Diablo 4 Season 1’s arrival later this month, Activision Blizzard will be releasing a patch set to address overpowered Treasure Goblins and other minor bugs. The developers are sure to speak to how they are tackling other fixes.
