Sainsbury's shopper left with no food or money after delivery driver demanded ID

A Sainsbury's delivery driver refused to hand over an online shopping order to a 37-year-old man, because he didn't have any ID. William Wilford says he told the driver he was relying on the £68.65 shop, as it had cost him the last of his cash and he was already living on leftovers.

The supermarket provided a refund but William was warned it could take days to process, leaving him with no food and no money. William, who lives on his own and receives benefits due to his cystic fibrosis and diabetes, had ordered spaghetti, Quorn chicken fillets, chicken-free slices, pasta and vegetables including parsnips and potatos.

He told TeessideLive: "On the morning of my expected food delivery, I had used the last of my milk and bread for breakfast - my delivery wasn’t due till 9pm to 10pm that evening. Lunch was a meal containing leftover veg that I tossed in a pan with some pasta.
