NEW DELHI: Young Indian wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel equaled a 20-year-old record held by Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the ongoing Duleep Trophy by taking seven catches in an innings. The match took place on Sunday in Bengaluru where Jurel represented India A against India B. Despite his exceptional performance behind the stumps, India A suffered a 76-run defeat.
Dhoni initially set the record in the 2004/05 season while playing for the East Zone, taking seven catches against the Central Zone. Jurel, 23, demonstrated exceptional glovework to match this feat. However, he had a disappointing performance with the bat, scoring just 2 and 0 in the two innings.
