A Devon corrugated packaging specialist has been bought by FTSE 100 listed Smurfit Kappa UK Limited - one of the world's leading paper-based packaging providers solutions.
Atlas Packaging, based in Barnstaple, North Devon, is best known for its shelf ready packaging, gift boxing and the e-commerce sector.
The move will strengthen its offer to the UK market, said Eddie Fellows, Chief Executive of Smurfit Kappa Corrugated UK & Ireland.
He said: “I am delighted with this acquisition and to welcome another strong professional management team into the Smurfit Kappa organisation. The business has an established customer base across several industries and an excellent reputation.
SKUK has operations throughout the UK and is a subsidiary of Smurfit Kappa Group which is a world leader in paper-based packaging with listings on the London and Irish stock exchanges.
General Manager of Atlas Packaging, Jason Sharman said: “We are delighted to now be a part of a world class organisation in Smurfit Kappa. Atlas has been a North Devon success story creating hundreds of jobs and expanding to four sites in Barnstaple and Bridgwater in Somerset. Smurfit Kappa has around 48,000 employees in over 350 production sites across 36 countries and with revenue of €10.1 billion in 2021.
