Devery Henderson’s 39-yard bobbling catch is the Saints Play of the Day

We are now under 40 days to go until the New Orleans Saints take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, with 39 days remaining, meaning this 39-yard bobbled reception by Devery Henderson is our Saints Play of the Day. For this highlight, we went back to 2010, when the Saints took on the Arizona Cardinals and Larry Fitzgerald. This was not the strongest game for Drew Brees either, who went 24 for 39 with 279 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.

On this play of the day, Brees underthrew Henderson, who got about three yards of separation over a tripping defensive back before having to slow down and turn around for the ball. Ultimately, Henderson got his hands on it, bobbled it while turning around to run, but then re-caught it and was tackled for a 39-yard gain.

While the game ended up resulting in a Saints loss by a score of 30-20, at the time of the play it was extremely critical. The catch was right before halftime, and put the Saints within field goal range, which John Carney would end up making after a few incompletions. This put the Saints up 13-10 right before halftime, despite not playing exceptionally well to that point. Unfortunately the loss tainted this play, but it was one of the more impressive plays from Henderson in his career.
